Norah Murray
Who am I?
I am Norah Murray, I was born in 2003 in Africa. I have MCDD (Autism), this has hindered me a lot in my learning ability. I have been to many types of schools, but finally found my place at Daniël de Brouwer School in Wilp. There I was able to develop myself much better and let my passion for reptiles grow!
Why do I love reptiles so much?
As a child I loved animals, but of course also dragons and dinosaurs. It took quite a while before I had reptiles as pets. I first had a classic dwarf hamster. After many different pets (rodents, mammals, fish and even birds) I finally tried reptiles and had an instant connection.
Of course I had little experience then and made many mistakes, but I learned very quickly.
My experiences with reptiles
After having kept a reptile myself for a year or two, I had to find an internship. That was very difficult. All the places my school suggested did not suit me. So I had to look for myself. I chose to look for a reptile shop to do an internship and day care there. Unfortunately, I was rejected a lot because of my autism. I wrote on Facebook that I was looking for an internship. And eventually I ended up at 'Bonder Exotics'. At first I was quite scared because I had heard 'no' so often. But the owner gave me a chance and wanted to meet me. We immediately clicked and I soon started an internship there.

After a year I decided to follow the training for CE Vakbekwaamheid Houders Van Herpeten so that I knew more about reptiles. This course lasted 10 weeks and was very intensive.
I passed the practical exam and the theory exam with a 9.1
Why do i give presentations to schools about reptiles?
After graduating, I decided to give presentations at my old school to teach the children about the reptile world.
I love these animals very much and I want to share my passion about them with others!
Through my passion and love for animals, I have helped many people overcome their fear of reptiles.
